Why is DIABASE highly appreciated as construction material?
Diabase is a hard, dense, dark volcanic rock with a fine-grained structure. It's density is between 2.8 and 2.9 t/m³. Diabase is nearly twice as hard as limestone (between 8 and 8.5 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness). This extraordinary physical and mechanical characteristics as well as it's abrasion resistance are reason why Diabas is appreciated as high quality construction material.
Are DIABASE aggregates frost resistant?
DIABASE rock has a very high frost resistance. By carefully selecting such rock during mining and applying the most suitable crushing and screening processes we preserve this valuable feature in our aggregates.
Can DIABASE be used as concrete aggregate?
Yes, our crushed DIABASE rock is fully suitable for concrete production. Tests showed, that concrete from DIABASE aggregates can easily attain higher strength than such made from limestone aggregates.
Can I use DIABASE to make hand-mixed concrete and motar?
Yes, in fact concrete and mortar made from DIABASE sand and aggregates provide better results than traditional mixtures made using river sand and natural gravel. This is because we provide for a controlled grain size distribution in our materials and we keep it free of wood and other detrimental components on concrete and motar production. Can DIABASE be used for building yards and driveways?

Can a private person buy a small quantity of material?
Yes, we sell our products to private and business customers. Customers are welcomed to visit our production sites and make their selection of product according to their need.
Does PLANTRANS DIJABAZ d.o.o. sell by volume (m³) or by weight (t)?
We sell our products by weight. Material will be weighed by callibrated scales and the customer receives a delivery note for each shipment. The unit weight of our products can be found on our product list (you find it on our "Downloads" page).
